Our next jam isn’t until August 6th, that gives you 3 weeks to practice our featured tunes: Things Aint What They Used To Be, and Beatrice. Our aim is to feature an easier and more advanced tune at each jam, and remember, you don’t have to play these tunes – you can prepare and perform […]
We have a jam tomorrow, yes we do! The rhythm section for our band has played together for many years and always sounds tight. They are Paul Muench, keyboard; John Schaffer, bass; and Rand Moore on percussion. Paul Dietrich on trumpet completes the quartet and I’ll be the emcee. The featured songs are Gravy Waltz, composed by […]
Our next jam is June 4th and features the stellar line-up of Dave Cooper – trumpet, Johannes Wallmann – keys, John Christensen – bass, and Rodrigo Villanueva – drums. Join us and listen and learn from Madison’s best jazz musicians. Featured tunes for this week are Recordame, and Impressions. Recordame is a good vehicle for […]

We jam on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month but Easter falls on the 3rd Sunday in April so we will only have 1 jam. See you again in May!
Our next jam is February 5th, Super Bowl Sunday. Contrary to what you might expect we usually have large turnouts on this date. We expect the same this year and lined up a stellar band just to make sure. UW Platteville director of jazz studies Dave Cooper will lead the jam and play trumpet. He is joined by […]
We had another productive meeting today and the jam is now poised for continued success. We have more people involved and helping and Mike Hill is taking over as the day-to-day director of the jam. Mike is on our board and has a knack for keeping track of details and getting things done. Although he won’t be […]
Sorry to all you diehards, but we’re canceling the jam. The forcast calls for 7-11 inches of snow today and tomorrow and -36 wind chill on Sunday. Two of our band members live out of town. Not a good situation. The next jam is Jan 8th. Hopefully, we’ll have more info posted soon.
We have 3 more jams until the end of the year. Time flies. We’ve been doing this for over 7 years and may be getting close to the end. At this point we aren’t scheduling any more jams and are looking for new leadership and volunteers. Hopefully that works out and the jam continues. In the meantime, […]
That was a fun jam today. Paul Dietrich is a great trumpeter, and Rand, Paul, and John have played together for years and you can hear it. We had a good batch of jammers, too, although it was a bit of a trumpet fest. Where are the sax players? One of them is Tony Barba and he […]
